Named after its owner/founder, and operating from premises in Holland Street, Gordon Campbell (Construction) Limited was formed in 1986. Originally employing around 10 – 12 joiners, the business expanded, finally having 35 – 40 employees in 1998 when the name was changed to Camstruction Limited.
At the same time, the business moved into its current premises at Cam House (the former “Fittie School”) in York Street.
Predominantly Carpenters and Joiners at that time, Camstruction then acquired the ongoing business of George Simpson & Co, Builder, and incorporated their workforce to provide an “all-trades” service to clients.
Camstruction, in its present form, was established
in June 2005, when the ongoing business was
purchased by the then Jamieson & Allan Construction
Ltd.
Jamieson & Allan Construction Ltd. evolved
in July 2001, when Ian Jamieson and Mike Allan
took the decision to establish a small building
company. From premises in Altens, and with
only two other employees initially, the business
was based predominately on domestic alterations
and extensions, and maintenance work for repeat
clients.
Over the next four years, the firm grew to
employ around 15 people, with an annual turnover
of around £1m, still mainly in the domestic
sector, but also carrying out small commercial
and refurbishment contracts.
Following an approach by the previous owner
who was retiring, the company acquired the
business of Camstruction Limited, adopting
their name, retaining all office staff and
site personnel, and continuing to service
many of their existing clients. |
